How to Switch Your SlackBoard Plus from Two Lines to One

How to Switch Your SlackBoard Plus from Two Lines to One
In this article

Quick answer

The SlackBoard Plus and Pro come with two lines and a single-line clip, so you can switch to one line at home whenever you want a harder balance challenge. Follow the steps below or watch GIBBON's conversion video. Make sure you use the correct pins, because the wrong ones can leave the line too tight to remove easily. You can switch back to two lines any time.

Why switch to one line?

Two lines give you a wide, stable base: you stand across both lines, which is great for learning, strength moves and standing-desk use. One line takes that base away. You stand along a single 2-inch line, just like on a SlackRack, SlackYard or outdoor slackline, so your ankles, knees, hips and core have to work harder to keep you centered.

Switch when:

  • You can hold a single-leg stand on two lines for 20 seconds per leg without support.

  • Two-line squats and lunges feel controlled.

  • You want to start walking the line, or you're preparing for outdoor slacklining.

Which boards can switch?

  • SlackBoard Plus and SlackBoard Pro: Yes. Both ship with two lines installed plus a single-line clip.

  • SlackBoard (single-line): No. It's built as a single-line board and can't be converted to two lines.

What you need

  • The single-line clip that came with your board

  • The correct pins - 1 lock pin, 1 roll pin

  • Tensioning Dowel

How to Convert the GIBBON SlackBoard Plus or Pro from 2 Lines to 1 Line

  1. Remove the roll pins. Using the hammer and punch (or screwdriver), drive out the roll pins from the current 2-line setup. (Exact location and number of pins: check the video at 0:40.)

  2. Take off the lock pins, lines, and clips. Remove the existing lock pins, both slacklines, and their clips so the board is cleared for the single-line setup.

  3. Install the single line and lock pin, then the small clip. Fit the new single SlackLine and secure it with the lock pin, then attach the small tension clip.

  4. String the line across and install the roll pin. Run the line across the board, then add the roll pin into place

  5. Tension the line. Tighten the line using the tension dowel.

  6. Test the line: stand on it with one foot and check that it feels secure and springy.

How to switch back to two lines

Yes, the process would be the same for removing the line and installing a line. You would do this twice.

Troubleshooting

The line is too tight to get the pins out. This usually happens when the wrong pins were used during conversion. GIBBON support describes two ways to take tension off the line so you can remove it without cutting it: carefully bounce on the line to loosen it (with a sturdy support nearby), or loop a ratchet strap around the whole board and tighten it gently to bring the ends slightly closer together. See GIBBON's support article and the video How to remove and reinstall the line on a SlackBoard.

The clip broke. It's rare. If your board is under its 2-year warranty, file a claim through GIBBON's warranty portal; otherwise you can buy a replacement clip.

The single line feels loose after switching. Re-tension it with the included dowel. See How to Keep Your SlackBoard Line Tight

Your first single-line session

Expect it to feel harder, even if two lines were easy. Go back to basics for a few sessions:

  • Single-leg stand with one foot along the line: 3 × 20 seconds per leg, holding a support at first.

  • Squat to balance: one foot on the line, one on the floor. 2 × 6 per side.

  • Line walk: heel to toe, end to end. 5 lengths.

FAQ

Q: Can I switch my SlackBoard Plus to one line?

A: Yes. The Plus and Pro include a single-line clip so you can switch between two lines and one.

Q: Can I add a second line to a single-line SlackBoard?

A: No. The standard SlackBoard is a single-line board and can't be converted. If you want both options, choose the Plus.

Q: Is one line harder than two?

A: Yes. Two lines give you a wide, stable stance. One line narrows your base to a single 2-inch line, so it's a bigger balance challenge.

Q: Can I switch back to two lines?

A: Yes, as often as you like.

Q: What if I lose or break the clip?

A: Replacement clips are available. If your board is under warranty, file a warranty claim first.
